The first people to leave their traces in this area were probably concerned about other things than coffee and plants that like heat. They made the ground fertile. Cut down trees and erected buildings. The first Christian settlements, Roman villas and baths, medieval fortresses, town houses. As a Gorizian bride, Paola Gonzaga brought with her Italian flair from Mantua and introduced it to the previously rough town. Times have changed. And we, the citizens of Lienz, take umbrage only when a shadow is cast upon our sun town. The flair is still here. We live in our town. What else has survived will be presented to you in the book "Our town is a treasure chest", which can be bought at the reception. Let us take you on an interesting tour through the ages.
